PINKSTIX originated from humble beginnings, when a group of young women decided to paint a set of drumsticks pink as a joke. Since percussion and drums were male-dominated instruments at the time, it was empowering to add such a vibrant female touch and the trend spread like wildfire. Soon, every stick and mallet was painted hot pink and caught the attention of many spectators that, hey, girls can play a mean beat.

A line of funky fashion accessories soon followed, and like its name, the line embraced the wild, in-your-face femininity with fun and colourful designs. As the same group of girls grew up, so did the line; the accessories became more mature and sophisticated but the designs never forgot the roots of celebrating girl power. The strong female attitude knew no boundaries of course, and translated the successful line to international proportions, its accessories stemming from Toronto to New York.

This very attitude of empowerment lends itself easily to more recent global issues; namely environmental awareness and cultural preservation. PINKSTIX is discovering ways to contribute to the eco-movement; such as supporting our local economy, creating our very fashionable & animal friendly Du JouR Vegan Handbag collection, creating long-lasting, top-quality multi-purpose accessories, and providing eco-friendly reusable totes in all handbag purchases.

The line also vows to preserve arts and culture in this difficult trend of consumerism by promoting and supporting arts groups. So far, PINKSTIX has supported the development of fusion world music by sponsoring the all-female Onnanoko Drumming Ensemble, and supported the preservation of Classical Chinese Calligraphy and Art by contributing to the Deng-Fen Project. The goal of this continuous growth is to truly reflect who we are as a collective people; and through simple accessories, bring on a wave of empowerment and knowledge.
